NCP general secretary and former MP DP Tripathi, who arrived in Bihar to campaign for CPI candidate at Begusarai, Kanhaiya Kumar, said that the party was extending its support to the GA candidates on 31 seats, except the five being contested by the NCP candidates and four by the left parties.

Tripathi, who was once a close aide of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, said that the NCP had to field its candidate on five seats, including Katihar, Hajipur (Dasai Chaudhary), Karakat (Chandra Shekhar), Sheohar (Shamim Alam) and Nalanda (Shashi Kumar) after the party’s demand to the GA for leaving Katihar seat was not accepted.

The NCP leader had also urged Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader to support former JNSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was pitted against BJP’s Giriraj Singh, at Begusarai. “But he declined,” said Tripathi, adding that the GA should have been more serious in allocation of seats and selection of candidates for better outcome of LS poll results.
