Lok Sabha elections 2019: In Bihar’s Katihar, NCP’s Tariq Anwar holds the key
Tariq Anwar of the Nationalist Congress Party won the Katihar Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, defeating Nikhil Kumar Choudhary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by more than 1.14 lakh votes.
Katihar Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 40 parliamentary constituencies in Bihar in eastern India.
Tariq Anwar of the Nationalist Congress Party won the seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, defeating Nikhil Kumar Choudhary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by more than 1.14 lakh votes.
There were 1,446,478 electorate in the Katihar Lok Sabha Constituency in the 2014 elections, out of which 769,044 are male and the remaining 677,434 are female.
According to the estimates of the 2011 census, out of total 3,071,029 population, there were 1,600,430 males and 1,470,599 females in Katihar district.
Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was 67.6%.
