Lok Sabha Elections 2019: After heat and dust of election campaign and voting, time to breathe easy
While some leaders have busied themselves with meeting people of their constituencies before the vote counting on May 23, others went out of station to meet their near and dear ones.
With the general elections now over, prominent leaders of various political parties are now enjoying a much-needed break after nearly two months of hectic campaigning.

A day after the last phase of polling, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Pataliputra, Misa Bharti, went to Ranchi to meet her father, incarcerated RJD chief Lalu Prasad, undergoing treatment at RIMS in judicial custody. This was the first time that Misa met Lalu at Ranchi after he was sentenced to jail in fodder scam cases.
Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, the Congress candidate from Patna Sahib, spent his day mostly indoors at his Nala Road residence, meeting with his political workers and discussing the strategies for the counting day. His wife Poonam Sinha and son Luv left for Mumbai, while his other son Kush accompanied Shatrughan to an iftar party hosted by Congress MLA Shakil Ahmad Khan.
Rashtriya Lok Samta Party chief Upendra Kushwaha had a hectic day in the constituencies — Karakat and Ujiyarpur — from where he is contesting these elections. On Sunday, he had meetings with party workers of Karakat and had a night break at Patna. Next evening, he reached Ujiyarpur to discuss the counting plans there. At Ujiyarpur, Kushwaha is pitted against state BJP chief Nityanand Rai.

Monday was just normal for sitting BJP MP from Nawada, Giriraj Singh, who has contested from his home town of Begusarai, and Union minister Radha Mohan Singh, seeking re-election from East Champaran.
Union minister Ram Kripal Yadav, contesting from the Pataliputra, attended social functions and met with his followers in different parts of the capital city. “I am thanking the people for voting, as they are the actual gods of democracy,” said Yadav.
Former union minister and Congress leader Tariq Anwar went to Siliguri to his relatives’ place to refresh himself and brace up for the most tense phase: counting on May 23.
“I am also here to attend a family function and will return to Katihar by Tuesday evening,” said Anwar.
Former chief minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha-secular chief Jitan Ram Manjhi is already on a visit to different parts of the Gaya constituency to express his gratitude to the people for supporting him. “Manjhi is also attending marriage functions of the people in his constituency to bolster his rapport with the electors,” said party spokesman Dhirendra Munna.
