Lok Sabha election 2019: YSRCP aims to wrest Narasaraopet from TDP

The TDP won the Narasaraopet Lok Sabha in 2009 and 2014 but the YSRCP is trying hard to stop N Chandrababu Naidu’s party from scoring a hat-trick.
Narasaraopet Lok Sabha constituency is located in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP won the last two Lok Sabha elections here with Mondugula Venugopala Reddy securing a thin victory in 2009 while Rayapati Sambasiva Rao overcame YSRCP’s Ayodhya Rami Reddy Alla in 2014.

The TDP has renominated Rayapati Sambasiva Rao to contest from the seat this time also. The YSRCP promises to give a tough fight and has named Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu as its candidate. Kanna Lakshmi Narayan is the BJP candidate for Narasaraopet which once used to be a Congress stronghold.
Narasaraopet Lok Sabha constituency comprises the Assembly segments of Pedakurapadu, Chilakaluripet, Narasaraopet, Sattenapalle, Vinukonda, Gurajala and Macherla.
According to the 2011 census, out of a total population of 2041723 in Narasaraopet, 77.54% is rural and 22.46% is urban population. The Scheduled castes (SC) and Scheduled tribes (ST) ratio is 18.39 and 6.95, respectively out of total population.
