Lok Sabha election 2019: Srikakulam a TDP stronghold in Andhra Pradesh

Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency has been a battlefield for Kalinga and Velama communities for several elections now and it expected to remain like that in the upcoming election.
Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh has been a Telegu Desam Party (TDP) stronghold since the mid 1990s. The seat slipped from the TDP’s grasp in 2009 but the party regained it in 2014 when Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu won it defeating Reddy Shanti of the YSR Congress.

Voting in the constituency will take place on April 11.
It comprises seven Assembly constituencies of Itchapuram, Palasa, Tekkali, Pathapatnam, Srikakulam, Amabadalavalasa and Narasannapeta.

According to the 2011 census, out of total 1933930 population 78.62% is rural and 21.38% is urban population. The Scheduled castes (SC) and Scheduled tribes (ST) ratio is 8 and 4.82, respectively out of total population.
