Daman and Diu is a Union territory and is represented by a single parliamentary constituency.
The second smallest Union territory came into existence in 1987 after the implementation of the Goa, Daman and Diu Reorganisation Act, 1987. And, the Lok Sabha election was held in Daman and Diu for the first time that year.
Lalubhai Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) defeated Congress’ Ketan Patel in the 2014 Lok Sabha election. Lalubhai had won the parliamentary election in 2009 as well.
