Lok Sabha 2019 constituency: In Shimoga, Yeddyurappa’s son takes on Bangarappa’s son

Shimoga is a high-profile constituency Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka which was represented in 2014 by BS Yeddyurappa. The former chief minister has won the seat by over 3.5 lakh votes defeating Manjunath Bhandary of the Congress.

By-elections were held to this seat in November 2018 after Yeddyurappa got elected to the Karnataka assembly. In the by-elections, Yeddyurappa’s son Raghavendra was pitted against former CM S Bangarappa’s son Madhu Bangarappa fighting on a JD(S) ticket. Raghavendra won the polls by over 45,000 votes.

In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, it is again a contest between BS Raghavendra and Madhu Bangarappa in Shimoga. Congress is fighting the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka in an alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular), led by Deve Gowda.

Voting for the Lok Sabha election in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23. The results will be declared on May 23.
