The auspicious festival of Papankusha Ekadashi is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu's incarnation, Lord Padmanabha. Hindus observe this festival annually with fervour. Devotees keep a fast and offer prayers to seek blessings from the gods. It falls on Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwin. By keeping a fast on this day, a person atones his sins and achieves salvation. When is Papankusha Ekadashi 2023? Shubh Muhurat and Parana Time:
Drik Panchang says that Papankusha Ekadashi falls on October 25, Wednesday this year. The Ekadashi tithi will start on October 24 at 3:14 pm and end on October 25 at 12:32 pm. Meanwhile, the Parana (time to break the fast) is performed after sunrise on the next day of Ekadashi fast, before the end of Dwadashi tithi. The Parana falls on October 26. The correct Parana time will last from 6:28 am to 8:43 am.
Papankusha Ekadashi 2023 Significance:
Devotees seeking the love and affection of Lord Vishnu keep the Ekadashi fast. Additionally, observing the vrat bestows one with blessings and worldly pleasures. Since Papankusha Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu's avatar, Lord Padmanabha's worship, praying to him can help people rid themselves of their sufferings and be bestowed with blessings. It is also believed that Papankusha Ekadashi vrat can liberate one from the cycle of birth and death and attain salvation.
Papankusha Ekadashi 2023 Rituals and Puja Samagri:
One should not perform the Ekadashi fast Parana during Hari Vasar. Devotees who are fasting should wait for Hari Vasar to end before breaking the fast. Hari Vasar is the first one-quarter period of Dwadashi Tithi. The best time to break the fast is in the morning. Additionally, actions like plucking Tulsi leaves, saying harsh words, consuming alcohol, and consuming Tamsik food are prohibited during this festival. Other rituals are taking a bath in the morning to rid oneself of impurities, placing Lord Vishnu's idol at the place of worship inside your home, and offering him garlands, flowers, and sweets. In the evening, one must perform the Ekadashi puja again by reciting Ekadashi Katha and Vishnu Sahasranaam. After doing the aarti, one can break the fast by eating Sattvik food.
