Get to know... Aahana Kumra
Currently vacationing in Thailand, the actor reflects on career highs and lows, favorite music, and the joys of fame and storytelling
Currently, I am: Vacationing after shooting for a series. I am also checking out new scripts.
High point in life: The success of Lipstick Under My Burkha (2016), which touched a chord with the audience and put me on the map.
Low point in life: I don’t think you can hit rock bottom in the industry if you have a never-say-die attitude.
On my playlist: Gabbar, by Kptaan and Tru G; anything by Hanumankind; Intehaa Ho Gai, from Sharaabi.
One thing I would never buy: Cigarettes.
Today I’m craving: Thai food. Luckily I’m in Thailand!
App I check before bed: WhatsApp and Instagram.
Advice I’d give my 18-year-old self: Don’t be afraid of digital media. It’s going to be the future.
My favourite subject in school: PT. I enjoyed being outdoors.
I’d swipe right on: The idea of a morning run. I enjoy it.
My secret skill is: To be able to make up something on the spot. I am a very good storyteller!
A magic tool I wish I had: A way to travel to any country without a flight ticket or visa.
My favourite Sunday memory: Morning cartoons on TV when I was a schoolkid. I was allowed to watch TV only on Sundays. I loved Ramayan too.
My plans for next Sunday: A run on Juhu beach if I’m Mumbai. If I’m elsewhere, I’ll just go for a run there.
My most star-struck moment: Working with Amitabh Bachchan in Yudh. I played his daughter and hadn’t met him until then. It didn’t feel believable. I was simply awestruck.
My favourite bad habit: Eating ice cream at night. I can’t sleep without eating an ice cream.
If I could travel back or forward in time: I wouldn’t. I am happy with my present.
The best thing about fame: Total strangers who love you for your work.
The worst thing about fame: Total strangers who want to know the very things you wish to keep private.
