Print the new notes with pictures of Netaji, Bose family members demand
Family members to submit memorandum to the Prime Minister on his return from Japan.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s family members have demanded that his portrait be printed on the new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 currency notes are that are being printed.
“We will be submitting a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this connection soon after he returns. We would try to get the signature of most of the family members on the memorandum. If it is not possible, it will be signed by Netaji’s niece Chitra Ghosh on everyone’s behalf,” said Chandra Kumar Bose, grand nephew of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

The former Tata employee joined BJP before the Bengal assembly elections and contested against chief minister Mamata Banerjee from Bhawanipore constituency.
The central bank is on a currency printing overdrive to replace old Rs 500 notes and introduce Rs 2,000 notes and completely new series of Rs 1,000 notes. The Rs 1,000 denominations will be released in a few months with in new colour combinations.
“I prefer to say that it was our long standing ‘request’ and not a ‘demand’ that Netaji’s portrait be included on currency notes. Now that new notes are being printed we would urge the Prime Minister to fulfil that request. It is not just the request of our family members but it is a demand of the nation,” said 86-year-old Chitra Ghosh, the oldest surviving member of the Bose-family.
It was Ghosh who had led the Bose-family delegation when they went to meet the Prime Minister on January 23.
The Modi government has declassified the first lot of 100 files related to Netaji on January 23 on the occasion of the freedom fighters 119th birth anniversary.

The faction of Netaji family members who are raising the demand to print his picture on the notes were also seen campaigning for the declassification of the secret files on him.
“For some reasons the Congress government neither declassified the files nor did they print any notes with Netaji’s portrait on it. But as the present government has shown some interest on Netaji and has already declassified the files, we hope that our this request would also be met,” said Chandra Bose.
