Kader Khan, Prime accused in Park street gang rape case arrested after nearly five years

Prime accused in Park street Gang rape case, Kader Khan was arrested by Kolkata police in Delhi. The arrest was made by a joint team of Kolkata and Delhi police. Khan is being brought to Kolkata.

Khan who left the city after the incident was absconding since. According to reports he Left the country and was in Dubai.
Recently Kolkata police received information that Khan has returned to the country and was living in Gaziabad where he rented an apartment under a fictitious name. The sleuths put him under surveillance. On Thursday night, a joint team of Delhi and Kolkata police raided his apartment in Gaziabad and arrested him.
Police is presently interrogating Khan to trace others who have helped him hide for four and a half years.
Suzette Jordan, then 37 year old and a mother of two was gang-raped on the night of February 5, 2012 by five men who had offered to drop her home from a night club at Kolkata’s posh Park Street.

She had filed her complaint with the police a few days later and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called it a “sajano ghatana” or fabricated case.
But, senior police officer Damayanti Sen had pursued the case and identified the five accused. She was later shunted out from her post. Three of the five accused were arrested. Two others, including the main accused Kader Khan absconded.
On December 10, 2015 City Sessions Court convicted the accused persons and sentenced them to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The woman they raped, Suzette Jordan, died of Meningitis in March 2015. She was just about 40.
