“We would be offering all these cuisines at the cheapest rates in town because the fish is from our water bodies. The dishes range between Rs 40 and Rs 200. It would be an ‘All Fish’ stall, which is sure to appeal to Bengalis,” said Soumyajit Das, managing director of the SFDC.
One such stall has already come up at Nalban. The second and third stalls are being planned at Eco Park and Nabanna. The corporation also has some takeaway stalls in Nicco Park.

“Apart from the desi varieties such as the Rui, Katla, Chaital, Tangra and Pabda among others, people can also enjoy cuisines cooked from exotic varieties such as the Vietnam Koi, Chanos from Philippines, Pompano from Vietnam and Vannamei shrimp from the eastern Pacific. They are all being cultured here,” he added.

Accordingly, the water bodies at Upasanashthal (8.74 hectare), water treatment plant (30 hectare), Eco Urban village (15 hectare), SWM area (30 hectare), Diler bheri (17 hectare) were identified to be handed over to SFDC on a 50:50 profit sharing basis.
