Non-performing ministers, MLAs won’t get BJP ticket, their relatives may: Saini
State unit of BJP may announce its new executive on July 16; it will also revamp its organisation at district level.
Rajasthan BJP plans to deny tickets to those ministers and MLAs whose performance has been below par in the last four years. Ahead of the assembly election, scheduled at the end of this year, the party also plans to reach out to leaders who have either quit the party or who are upset with the BJP.
State BJP president Madanlal Saini has said that he is not averse to the idea of kin of BJP leaders getting tickets in the upcoming elections provided they have been working for the party.
“The forthcoming elections will be fought under Vasundhara Raje and the party will not be giving tickets to those ministers and MLAs who have underperformed,” Saini said.
On leaders such as Ghanshyam Tiwari, who have recently quit the BJP over differences with the chief minister and other issues, Saini said that Tiwari is his old friend and he will be reaching out to him as well as other leaders who are disgruntled with the party.
The state unit of the BJP is likely to announce its new executive on July 16. The party will also revamp its organisation at the district and block level.
Saini denied that he was part of any camp and said that his only aim was to ensure that BJP wins in the coming assembly elections.
Meanwhile, Raje will be taking out the 45-day Suraj Gaurav Yatra from August 1. “The aim is to present the development report card to the people and tell them about the work being done by the government in the last four and a half years. The place and detailed programme of her yatra will be finalised at the meeting on July 16,” Saini said.
Raje will connect with the masses and showcase development works while taking feedback on the implementation of different schemes.
Sources said a detailed schedule is being worked out to ensure that maximum assembly constituencies are covered in the 45-day period. The details will include venues of the public meetings, overnight halts, and other programmes.
This will be Raje’s third yatra since 2003 when she first took over as the chief minister. She had earlier undertaken Parivartan Yatra and Suraj Sankalp Yatra.
Raje was earlier scheduled to take out 75-day Suraj Gaurav Yatra from April 15, but it was postponed after the then state party unit president Ashok Parnami resigned.
