Life story of last Hindu king of Sindh, book by BJP leader in Rajasthan school libraries soon

The Rajasthan government will soon introduce the biography of Raja Dahir Sen, the last Hindu ruler of Sindh, in the state-run school libraries. It has also decided to introduce BJP’s former MP Tarun Vijay’s book Sindhu Darshan.

The move is in continuation with the state education department’s earlier move to introduce the biography of Hemu Kalani and Chandra Dev in 2015. Kalani was a Sindhi freedom fighter who was hanged by the British in 1943, four years before India gained independence.

Earlier, the department had also introduced Bhagvad Gita, the collection of writings by BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyay and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book ‘Exam Warriors’ in the school libraries.

Rajasthan has around 13,500 secondary and senior secondary schools, and around 86,000 government schools.

Addressing the Sindhu Mahakumbh on Sunday, state education minister Vasudev Devnani announced that Dahir Sen’s biography and Vijya’s Sindhu Darshan will be housed in the school libraries.

The Sindhu Mahakumbh was called to mark the 1306th Balidan Diwas (martyrdom day) of Raja Dahir Sen. A senior BJP leader said Raja Dahir sacrificed his life protecting the country just like Maharana Pratap and Prithviraj Chauhan.

The minister said efforts were on to establish Sindhu research bodies in Jaipur and Udaipur. At present, there’s only one such body at Kota University. “The state government has also sent a proposal to the Centre to change name of Aravali Express train to Amrapur Express,” Devnani said.

Vijya’s book Sindhu Darshan is travelogue on Leh-Ladakh and importance of Sindhu River. An annual yatra by the same name — Sindhu Darshan — is held in the Ladhak region of Jammu and Kashmir. The yatra this year is from June 23-26.

In the recently released academic calendar, the education department has marked a separate time slot where the students will hear sermons from saints. In the academic calendar for 2018-19, the department in the extra-curriculum activities for schools of the state also enlists that on third Saturday of every month, the students will hear sermons from saints in the school premises.

The Rajasthan government has kept copies of Bhagavad Gita at secondary and senior secondary school libraries in the state. Devnani had said that the Gita was a karma-based scripture and inspires everyone. “Gita is not related to any religion, it can be read by anyone,” he had said.

In 2017, the education department had ordered keeping the 15-volume collection of writings by BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyay, priced at ₹6,000, in public libraries of the state.

Hour-long Sindhi programme on national channel every week: Rathore

Jaipur To give a boost to the Sindhi language, every week an hour-long Sindhi programme will be telecast on national channel, Union minister of state for youth affairs and sports, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Sunday said.

He said if the programme remains popular, then the telecast duration will be increased.

Addressing the Sindhu Mahakumbh, he said after Independence, the Sindhi community economically strengthened the country. Rathore said besides their contribution in fulfilling social responsibilities, the Sindhi community is also playing an important role in development of sports.
