Four coaches added to Thar Express to handle heavy rush

Amid increasing rush of passengers in Thar Express-an international train that connects Pakistan to Barmer and other parts of India-the railway authorities have added four more coaches in the train which makes it a 13 coach train now.

The decision was taken upon the request made by Pakistani authorities.

Since past one month, the rush of passenger, especially of Pakistan residents, have increased heavily.

Spokesperson of northern-western railway (NWR) Gopal Sharma confirmed the reports.

When the train was started in 2006 the numbers of coaches were seven which was increased to eight in 2009 and to nine in 2011.

During the past one month, out of total of number of persons who came to India from Pakistan, 3451 were Pakistani while 616 were Indian.

On the other hand out of the total number of people who went to Pakistan from India, 2,823 were Pakistani while merely 706 were Indian. According to the security agencies sources, the main reason behind the increased passenger load is summer vacation in both the countries, Urs festival in Ajmer and wedding season.

The people living in the areas of Rajasthan which shares its border with Pakistan like Ajmer and Barmer have relatives in Pakistan and Thar Express being a cheap mode of travel is most sought after.
