Bhanwar Pratap Singh, 44, was left with a few broken ribs and bruises on his face and hand in the attack on Thursday night at Neem ka Thana in Sikar district. His daughter was also injured when she tried to protect Singh.

Singh said the group of “local youths” had threatened him on Thursday morning after he asked them stop defecating in front of his house.

“They didn’t even spare my daughter and she also got a cut in her hand. I fainted during the attack and they left me thinking that I was dead,” said Singh adding that two of the assailants were known trouble-makers.

Singh was rushed to the local government hospital from where he was referred to Jaipur.

So far the police have failed to arrest any of the accused involved in the case.

Assistant sub-inspector Bhanwar Singh of Neem Ka Thana police station said a case has been registered. “Section 307 (attempt to murder) will be applied if it is confirmed in the medical reports,” the police official added.

Sikar Superintendent of police Akhilesh Kumar said raids were conducted but no one has been arrested so far.
