Ahead of polls, Cong briefs leaders, workers on booth management

Senior Congress leaders and experts roped in by the party to give lessons on booth management to the party workers and leaders on Monday asked them to go hi-tech and strengthen booth management.

Addressing the district and block chiefs, former and present MLAs and MPs at a daylong workshop in Jaipur, state party president Sachin Pilot said the assembly elections are scheduled after a few months and the state people’s sentiments are favour of the Congress.

He said the party workers at polling booth need to be vigilant and ensure effective booth management.

Pilot said there are many questioned related to EVM, voter list and booth management, which needs to be understand looking into the changing times; how the technology and social media can be used. “In today’s era social media plays an important role and we need to take party’s ideology and achievements through it to the masses,” he added.

“We have been successful in by-elections and other polls held in last four years at different level; it is because if Congressmen decide to defeat BJP, then no one can stop,” Pilot said.

The experts briefed the participants about the election process. They shared with them the methods to check EVMs, rights of booth agent, issues related to voter list and fake voters.

Senior Congress leader and screening committee chairperson Kumari Shelja said, “In last elections it has been seen that party candidates lost on margins; we need to identify our weaknesses. New technology training is required. People have understood, and here the atmosphere is against CM and Modi.”

State in-charge Avinash Pande said party leaders have fought many elections but nowadays the strategy has changed and use of technology is must, which we need to focus. Achievement of UPA and that by Ashok Gehlot government should be shared through social media, he added.

“Everyone cannot get election ticket, but those who did not get will be looked after by party and that is Rahul Gandhi’s thought,” said Gehlot.

Former union minister Bhanwar Jitendra Singh said the selection process for the party candidates will be changed this time and no parachute candidate will be fielded and only those active and working in field will be given tickets. The party organization is conducting survey from outside and only capable and winning will be given ticket, he added.
