With 33 years of existence, the NMIMS has campuses in Mumbai, Shirpur (Maharashtra), Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The Indore institute will spread over 25 acres and cost Rs 300 crore and is expected to be opened this year itself.

Chief minister said with the penetration of IT czars like Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys into the city, "my dream of making Indore an IT hub has come true".

"And, with the arrival of premier institutes like NMIMS and Symbiosis, Indore heads one step closer to becoming a knowledge hub," Chouhan said. The minister also touched upon infrastructure and state’s high-yielding agriculture.

"Today the state has recorded 24.99% agriculture growth, the highest in the country," he said.

He said the government will focus on education so that none of the students move out of the state for higher studies.

Minister of urban administration and housing Kailash Vijayvargiya, Indore mayor Malini Laxmansingh Goud, NMIMS chancellor Amrish Patel and vice-chancellor Rajan Saxena were also present during the ceremony.

Echoing similar sentiments, Vijayvargiya said with the establishment of institutes like NMIMS and Symbiosis, the quality of education in the state will improve.

NMIMS chancellor, who shifted to Mumbai from Ujjain three decades ago, said like other branches "we want Indore too to add to the list of premier institutes across the world".
