CRPF’s contribution in any critical situation incredible, says Rajnath in Neemuch

Union home minister Rajnath Singh in on Monday expressed concern over the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.

Answering media queries after addressing the 76th Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Raising Day Function in Neemuch, Singh said he will give his statement on Gurdaspur incident in parliament on Tuesday.

“Today’s terrorist attack is a very unfortunate incident,” he said.

Taking at dig at Pakistan, Singh said, “We want peace with Pakistan and for this we also extended friendship, but even after that the cross-border terror incidents are taking place in country. We want peace, but not at the cost of national honour,” Singh said.

“We will not be the first to strike, but if we are hit, we will give a befitting reply,” he added.

Singh along with Shivraj Singh Chouhan landed in Neemuch in the morning from Delhi via Bhopal.

After reviewing the Raising Day parade, home minister addressed the CRPF jawans and gave a motivational speech.

He said that the contribution of CRPF in any critical situation, like attack on parliament, riots, natural disaster as well as at the time of elections was incredible. Singh also emphasised on the modernisation of the force.

Later, he conferred the National Bravery Award on assistant commandant Sonu Kumar Das posthumously.

Singh also felicitated sub-inspector Bhawani Prasad Sharma, the last surviving member of a CRPF jawan troop who fought with Pakistan rangers at V Sardar Post during 1965 war. CRPF women battalion also displayed daredevil stunts on the occasion.
