UP?s No. 1 target gets shelter in MP

JAGJIVAN PARIHAR is the new lord of the ravines. While the UP police have placed the burly bandit on top of its hit list, across the border, in Madhya Pradesh, the cops treat him like a blue-eyed boy. No wonder, Parihar stays in MP helping the police track down Ram Babu Gadariya and Salim Gujjar, while his men ravage UP and get full protection from any ‘official’ onslaught in turn.

The fissures in anti-dacoit alliance (between UP and MP) widened with Parihar’s men kidnapping 10 villagers from Kaithuli village (Auraiyya). The UP police are set to discuss this issue threadbare with the MP police, at the joint operations’ review meet. “He’s our number one target and there is evidence that suggests the MP police are backing him. This kind of policy is hurting our interests and affecting operations badly,” fumes a senior UP police officer.

In fact, the MP police are betting on Parihar largely because of the massive Thakur support that it feels could be handy in taming even a bigger name in business — Ram Babu Gadariya, a known Thakur-basher. It’s willing to exploit Parihar’s known rivalry with dreaded Salim Gujjar who is quite active in infamous Bhind and Morena after hounded out by the UP police..

In view of this support, Parihar hardly ventures out of MP and his brothers Param Singh and Buddhoo Singh are entrusted to carry out operations only in Etawah, Auraiyya and partially Jalaun. On his part, Parihar plans mass kidnappings, mainly that of Brahmins, and negotiates ransom with help of policemen.

Sample this: Jai Prakash Dubey and his brother were kidnapped by Parihar gang last year and taken to Ateh (MP). It was the MP police that secured their release, of course, for a price, reveals Dubey in his statement given to Etawah police. According to him, they were kept at a police station of Bhind for three days and released only after ransom was paid to a constable, instead of Parihar.

Such instances, sources said, have been multiplying ever since Parihar started operating independently with splinters of Nirbhay and Rajjan gangs.

And, the MP police, on its part, has stopped sharing any kind of detail that pertain to Parihar or this brothers with the UP police. When contacted, SSP Etawah Daljit Chowdhary although refusing to comment on role of MP police, maintained the police will overcome all hurdles.
