A CRIMINAL case was filed against Uttar Pradesh minister Yaqoob Qureshi in the court of the Chief Judicial magistrate in Lucknow on Wednesday for declaring the controversial reward of Rs 51 crore to anyone killing the Danish cartoonist who caricatured Prophet Mohammad recently.

The petition was filed by a local journalist Jagdish Narain Shukla through counsel Sandeep Dixit.
The petitioner prayed that the court should order the Hazratganj police to register a case against Qureshi for inciting communal disharmony and disturbance.
CJM DN Mishra has directed the police to file a reply and fixed the next date of hearing on February 28.
Meanwhile, a case was filed against Qureshi in a local court here on Tuesday The complaint was filed by local advocate Neelkanth Tiwari in the judicial magistrate’s court here.
In the complaint, Tiwari has sought prosecution of the minister for allegedly inciting the murder of the Danish cartoonist and also breaching the provisions of the Constitution as he was occupying a responsible public post.
The case will come up for hearing on March 22 after recording of the statement of the complainant.
Qureshi had publicly announced thatwhosoever attempted to depict the Prophet in such a manner would be declared an enemy of Islam.
