Abdul Karim Tunda, 45, name sake of LeT bomb maker arrested by Delhi police, confused the city police on Saturday when they came to know that a person named Tunda was booked for attack on people of a travel agency at Vidhayakpuri police station. Following arrest of LeT’s Tunda by Delhi police, the city police scanned its records and came to know about one Abdul Karim Tunda who was booked in a police case in the year 2001.
The confusion was, however, cleared after the senior police officials came to know that this Tunda was different from Tunda arrested by Delhi police. In fact, Tunda booked in Jaipur was aged 34 in the year 2001. He was native of Malda in West Bengal and is still wanted in the case. Whereas Tunda held by Delhi police is 70 years old now and is native of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
“Similar names created initial confusion which was cleared after records were checked. We will send a team to join interrogation of Tunda in connection with terror incidents in the state” said Additional director general of police, Anti Terrorism Squad, Alok Tripathi. Jaipur had witnessed serial bomb blasts on May 13, 2008 in which 70 people were killed and about 150 were injured.
