Tripura CM looks set to win from Dhanpur

Tripura left front chief minister Manik Sarkar looks set for a smooth win in the February 26 elections from the Dhanpur in spite of criticism from a section of voters in his constituency on issues such as unemployment and lack of irrigation facilities.
 
Sarkar, who won this seat in 1998 by 3103 votes against his nearest congress rival, is pitted this time against a greenhorn Dipak Charaborty of the same party.
 
The number of voters in the seat total 33,185 of which 17,598 were men and the rest women. 
 
Issues in the constituency were underdevelopment, unemployment, poor road communications and facilities for irrigations, according to a cross section of the electorate.
 
A voter at Dhanpur market S Debnath was critical that sarkar rarely visited his constituency and had also failed to give it a hospital.
 
"He is a busy man because he is the chief minister, but that does not mean that he will not care about development of his constituency," Debnath said.
