Tough action awaits moles within parties

AFTER THE counting of votes all political parties are going to turn the heat on moles within the party who had played spoilsport for official party candidates in the local bodies election.

The two frontline political parties the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are most adversely affected by ‘vibhishans’ within the party. At a party meeting senior leaders of the Congress had to face the wrath of ward candidates who complained about considerable damage caused to their winning prospects by moles within the party.

Party candidates for corporators’ seat Dileep Jaiswal and Gauri Shanker Dixit levelled allegations against local party leaders of their respective wards of covertly campaigning for the rival BJP candidates. Several senior leaders of the party were also at the receiving end for their dubious activities during the election campaigning. The party candidates also made a vociferous demand for the expulsion of such leaders from the party.

District Congress Committee president Mahesh Dixit has also issued instructions to identify the moles within the party so that appropriate action could be taken against them after the counting of votes.

“Appropriate action will be taken against moles within the party. All such party workers will not be spared, no matter what their stature is within the party organisation, who have worked against the party interest,” asserted Dixit.
A senior Congress leader said that a list of moles had already been prepared but it was not being disclosed to prevent further damage to the party when counting of votes is scheduled to take place on Monday.

The situation is no better in the BJP and it is also expected to suffer considerable loss at the hands of moles within the party. At a party meeting allegations and counter-allegations were levelled by party leaders on each other. Party leader Shivbodhan Mishra levelled allegations on Awadesh Pandey for campaigning in favour of an independent candidate.

Shiv Sena leader Dileep Singh, who recently joined the party, accused Sriram Tewari of working against the party interest in his area. Party candidate from Barra Village Rajesh Sachan also levelled allegations of treachery against local BJP leaders and accused them of working in the interest of an independent candidate during the election.

Another party candidate for the corporators’ seat Anand Mishra accused a party leader of his area of campaigning for an independent candidate during the election.

Women candidates of the party for corporators’ seat Pramila Pandey, Anita Bhatnagar, Sushma Katiyar and Ram Sakhi were also disenchanted with the negative role played by some senior leaders of the party during the local bodies election.

However, keeping in view the proposed counting of votes on Monday both the Congress and the BJP have refrained from taking any punitive action against moles within their parties. But after the declaration of results disciplinary action against rebels candidates and moles cannot be ruled out.
