This theatre festival in the city aims to make people laugh. The second edition of the comedy theatre festival, Haasya Rang, kicks off in the Capital today. Theatre actor and festival organiser Rashmi Vaidialingam says, "Last year, we got an overwhelming response and it encouraged us to have this festival again. We are hoping it will be better and bigger." She adds, "Being in the theatre industry for 50 years has made me realise the importance of comedy plays. They pass on the message in a fun way. I want the youth to realise the hidden potential that comedy plays have to offer and I want them to see and try and be a part of it."
Spread over a week, the festival will have six plays. According to Vaidialingam, the ones that must not be missed include the opening play, Paisa!! Paisa!! Paisa!!. "It’s a brilliant play about a couple who inherits a lot of money via lottery. Soon imposters enter the picture, causing utter chaos about who should get the money."Another play to watch out for is Majra Kya hai — the last play of the festival. There is heavy use of Urdu dialogues in the play. "The language and wit in the play is wonderful and will be a treat to watch," adds Vaidialingam.
