The two faces of Narhi

BHAIYYAJI IS respected. Bantu is feared! But, there is still something common about them. Both belong to Narhi. And both have served Narhi as LMC corporator.

Atul Yadav Bantu’s notoriety has become a pain in the neck for government offices. But, Bhaiyyaji’s too good to fight any evil. However, a word from him means the last word for Narhi. And a word from Bantu means ‘do-it-or-get-hit.’

The officials of Lucknow Municipal Corporation, LESA , Jal Sansthan start sweating when they are asked to visit Narhi for recovery.  They are all afraid of Bantu , who is  famous for beating and holding up government officials on small matters to get cheap publicity.

Various government departments are suffering due to his rogue attitude. LESA officials say the department  is incurring  a loss of Rs 3 crore, as they are unable to recover their money from the defaulters due to the pressure of Bantu. Many times, LESA men have been beaten up by the notorious corporator. A few days back, he stormed into the Hussainganj power sub-station and beaten the staff present. Recently, he held up a vigilance team of LESA on gunpoint and humiliated the AE to such an extent that he was forced to plead for security.

The AE, however, lodged a complaint with the Hazratganj Police Station but Bantu’s mentors applied pressure and no FIR was lodged.

The LMC has incurred Rs 1-crore their officials are afraid of visiting the area for the recovery of taxes from the residents. In addition to that Bantu is accused of selling hundreds of street light connections, sodium bulbs and mercury lights  of LMC,  similarly Jal Sansthan officials have suffered from the hands of Bantu several times. Instead of depositing money with the Jal Sansthan and LESA for water and power connections, people pay to Bantu and get the things done.

No policemen in Hazratganj has the guts to dare Bantu in his den, residents say.

Bantu has beaten several policemen but no FIR has been registered against him.

Assistant Engineer RK Shrinetra says, “LESA is suffering due to his bullying tactics.” Nagar Swasthya Adhikari  BBS Rathore says, “I have left visiting the area, because of Bantu, once he held me captive there and humiliated in front of others.”

However, Bhaiyyaji has always fought for common man’s rights and ha taken no political mileage out of it. His fight for City Cooperative Bank depositors is well known. In addition to that he has got the roads  and hand pumps installed in the area with the MLA and MP quota said RK Sharma resident of Narhi.

Refuting the charges Atul Yadav Bantu says, “People are jealous of my popularity that’s why they get me framed in false cases. I will not allow LESA men or LMC men to harass Narahi residents, and will fight against their high-handedness.”
