Rahul Gandhi slams Shivraj's govt, attacks policies

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi once again dismissed BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s ‘Gujarat model of development’, and attacked the BJP-led state government for not doing enough for farmers.

Addressing a rally in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh in support of state Congress chief Arun Yadav, he said, "Mills have closed down and unemployment is high.

Every second child is malnourished, more than 27,000 government jobs for SC/ST are vacant, and the state government has failed to implement even the tribal bill".

The Congress leader also brought the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam into the centre stage by accusing the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led government for being responsible for the scam and also for shielding the real masterminds.

"The BJP is talking about removing corruption but their own ministers are involved in scams. A large number of youths were affected by the scam. Who is responsible for this?" he asked.

In his 35-minute address Rahul refuted Chouhan’s claim that PM Manmohan Singh had refused to meet him when he had gone to Delhi to highlight the grievances of the farmers affected by hail storm.

He argued Chouhan never sought appointment from the PM or presented any memorandum seeking financial aid. "Our Congress MPs met the PM and subsequently the Centre sanctioned `500 crore as relief fund to the MP farmers".
