The youth had sustained bullet injuries in Tantanpara Mohalla near Hathi Pul under Delhigate police on Saturday. He was shifted to JN Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University where he succumbed to injuries on Saturday night.
The death of the boy affected efforts of the district administration to restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, the State Government today asserted that the incident of firing that led to killing of Vikki was being investigated and strict action would be taken against those responsible for it.
Principal Secretary, Home, Satish Kumar Agarwal said a probe was also being conducted into the circumstances under which Vikki was present at the spot of firing. Vikki’s residence was nearly 2 to 2.5 km from the spot of the incident, said Agarwal, adding the youth had been shot at in the curfew-bound area under the Delhi Gate police station on April 8. He later succumbed to injuries at JN Medical College, he said.
Agarwal, however, maintained that the youth was not killed in police firing.Taking serious note of the incident, Delhi Gate police station SHO Vijay Kumar had been placed under suspension, said Agarwal.
No one turned up to claim the body though police made efforts to get it identified, he said. A panel of doctors was asked to examine the body, he said adding it was on the basis of the examination conducted by the panel that the body was buried. The BJP MLA identified the youth as his son after his photograph appeared in local newspapers today, said Agarwal adding that none of the family members had given any information to the police regarding disappearance of the youth whose body was exhumed today.
A close watch was being kept on the situation in Aligarh, he said adding that ADG Law and Order Padman Singh was camping at Aligarh.
Replying to a question, Agarwal said curfew was continuing in three police station areas and the situation there was under control. Meetings of peace committees were being organised to restore normalcy there, he said adding the district administration would take a decision about relaxation in curfew after making an assessment of the situation.
