The principal opposition, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), is gearing up to give a tough time to the treasury benches. INLD secretary general Ajay Chautala said his MLAs would take up issues such as power crisis, complete collapse of law and order situation and corruption in the session.

Stating that the recent case of suicide by Geetika Sharma, the former airhostess of former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda’s MDLR Airlines, had brought shame to the state, Chautala said others whose names had come to light in criminal cases included Om Prakash Jain, Zile Ram Sharma and Ram Kishan Fauji.

On the sexual abuse of several girls and minors at the childcare home at Rohtak, the hometown of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the INLD leader said it was even more shocking that the government had not initiated any action against two Congress MLAs who had recommended state award to the facility.

“It is now evident that the Hooda-led government had not only been protecting criminals but also promoting the crime and corruption,’ he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader in the House, Anil Vij, also said his party MLAs would also take up the issue of rising crime against women in the state.

The party would also raise the issue of nuclear power plant at Gorakhpur in Fatehabad district and violence in Maruti Suzuki plant. The party will also seek an extension of the session.
