Police alleged Ali had supplied ammonium nitrate for making bombs used in Jaipur serial blasts on the basis of confession of a SIMI member, Sajir Mansoori, arrested by Gujarat police on August 16.

On Sunday, an alumnus of the college, Anwar Hussain, now a junior resident at the prestigious AIIMS in Delhi, was taken into custody from his Tonk residence on Sunday. He was let off on Monday evening in Jaipur and was expected to reach his home in Nawai village in Tonk late in the night.

His father Babu Lohar, said his son was innocent. Police assured he would be released after questioning. Anwar’s grandfather, Hazi Faquir Mohmmad, who was also anxiously waiting, said, “Anwar can never be associated with any terrorists activities.”

Worried over the collage’s links with terrorism, Dr Sanjay Sharma, former registrar of the Rajasthan Medical Council, hoped “police will investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that no innocent person is victimised.”
