Mahendra Karma
Karma, has worked with the tribals in the Bastar region of the state and has represented them for a long time. He was born May 19, 1958 at Fareshpal and has a post graduate degree in Arts.
Karma, has worked with the tribals in the Bastar region of the state and has represented them for a long time. He was born May 19, 1958 at Fareshpal and has a post graduate degree in Arts. A senior Congress leader, he however, rebelled against the Congress in 1996 Lok Sabha elections after being denied party ticket. He joined hands with senior leader Madhavrao Scindia who had formed the MP Indira Vikas Congress and won from Bastar.
Later, he was reinducted into the Congress. A controversial figure Mahendra Karma's name also figured in the infamous Malik Maqbooza case, involving the felling of precious forest wealth of Bastar region. Karma has been entrusted with the ministries of Industries (Commerce & Industry, Gramodhyog and public undertakings) in the Chattisgarh state.
