Maoists shot dead a Lok Janshakti Party leader who was campaigning for his wife ahead of panchayat elections near Dumaria in Bihar on Wednesday.
The Maoists left behind pamphlets that said Sudesh Paswan was a police informer. The LJP leader’s cousin was also killed in the attack.
The police have registered a case and a combing operation has been launched to catch the attackers.
Senior superintendent of police Garima Malik confirmed the incident and said initial investigations revealed Maoists were behind the attack.
LJP leader Chirag Paswan lashed out at the ruling grand alliance for prevailing lawlessness in the state and said those raising their voices were being murdered.
“Killings are happening on a daily basis. Daily doctors, journalists and leaders are being murdered. People who raise their voice are being killed. We demand that President’s Rule be imposed immediately in the state,” he said.
