Lashkar most wanted killed in Sopore encounter

In a joint Army-J&K Police operation, Abdullah Uni — the most wanted Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist in the Kashmir valley — was gunned down by security forces around Batpora in Sopore this afternoon.
Uni, wanted by the Army for the past two years, was the Lashkar’s pointsman in Sopore, Lolab and Baramulla and was reporting to one Furqan, the Muzaffarabad-based main coordinator reporting to Hafiz Saeed, the chief patron of the terrorist group.
Authoritative sources said that around 1pm on Tuesday, the 22 Rashtriya Rifles unit and Special Operations Group of J&K Police got information about the movement of a terrorist in Batpora area.
The area, according to sources, was cordoned off and an operation was launched to neutralise the terrorist and any of his accomplices.
Around 3pm, the J&K Police announced that Uni had been killed.
The Lashkar commander had been living a charmed life and had escaped the security forces no less than five times.
Uni is also believed to be the one who had ordered the killing of two Sopore girls this year.
Sources said that one 7.62mm Chinese pistol was recovered from Uni with several rounds of ammunition.
The terrorist — wrongly declared dead twice in 2009 — was the bane of security forces in the area.
Uni, a man with many alias, had infiltrated into the Valley in early 2009 and was all set to ex-filtrate to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir for the past two months. He had been lying low and moving around with only a couple of terrorist to avoid the security forces.
