Jats gather at Fatehabad pressing for release of youths
All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti national president Yashpal Malik vouches for arrested youths’ innocence
Demanding the release of those arrested for violence during the February Jat quota violence, members of the Jat community on Wednesday held a rally against the government and local administration amid heavy police and paramilitary force deployment in Fatehabad.

Led by All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) national president Yashpal Malik, the protesters gathered near the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on the mini-secretariat premises around 11 am.

Talking to HT, Malik said: “This is Jat nyaya rally to press for the release of innocent youths arrested in connection with violence during the quota agitation. These youths have no relation with any damage of government or private property during the Jat stir in Haryana.”
“We will now hold a rally at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, on May 10. I invite all Jats to participate in the rally,” he said, adding that after the Wednesday rally, a 10-member committee would be formed to decide future course of action.
Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Gangaram Punia, said, “Nine companies of police from adjoining districts, one company of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and one company of women police are maintaining strict vigil in the town to maintain the law and order .”
