CMPDC teachers get UGC aid for research projects

WITH ALLAHABAD University (AU) regaining the Central status and urging its teachers to undertake quality researches with a new gusto, even teachers of AU's constituent colleges have now started taking an initiative to carry out quality studies especially in the field of science.
In what is being seen as the first, six chemistry teachers of AU's Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad (CMP) Degree College have successfully bagged funding for three research projects from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and that they will try to complete them within the next three years.
Dr Roli Srivastava of CMP Degree College's Chemistry Department along with two of her colleagues has bagged the backing of the UGC to undertake a research in 'Ultra Sonic Studies on Molecular Interaction of Amino Acids' while another teacher of Chemistry department Dr Archana Pandey too has received the go ahead from the UGC for her research on 'Synthesis of Nucleosides'.
And this is not all. Dr Mridula Tripathi, also of the Chemistry department, will work on 'New Generation of Photoelectrical Chemical Cell' with the support of UGC funding.
"It is a great achievement for AU as well as CMP Degree College that could even mark a new beginning in scientific researches at the degree college level. With so many of our teachers bagging funding to carry out studies on diverse topics, even students will get encouragement to take up subjects of pure sciences for higher studies," said an ecstatic Dr VK Sinha, head of the Chemistry department at CMP Degree college.
Dr Sinha said that the department will extend all co-operation to the teachers who have made history in the college by bagging funding for three researches simultaneously in their research and want others to also start research work in the college in a big way.
Speaking about her research, Dr Roli Srivastava said that her study basically is a research in the effect of drugs intake on the human body with a focus on amino acids. "I am confident of completing the task in the stipulated two-year time period and after which I will explore ways to further carry on my work," she said.
