Harvansh Singh

A reputed Congress leader in Madhya Pradesh, Harvansh Singh has handled many portfolios in the state over the years.

Born on November 11, 1949 in Vindrai village of Chhindwara district, he is a farmer by profession. A Graduate in Commerce & Law and Post Graduate in Arts, Singh has had a long career in politics.

He was President of Seoni district Youth Congress Committee in 1971, Vice president MP State Handloom in 1983-86, and chairman in 1986-88. He was president of Pradesh Congress Sevadal in 1986-89 and became chairman of Madhya Pradesh Textile Corporation. He became General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee in 1992.

In 1993 Harvansh Singh was first elected as member of Madhya Pradesh State Legislative Assembly from Keolari constituency. He has held key portfolios of Public Health Engineering, Transport and Home departments.

At present, he is a Cabinet minister in the Digvijay Singh Government in the state.
