THE LUCKNOW Municipal Corporation has trained its guns on those colonisers who haven’t provided basic civic amenities in their colonies.
To begin with, the corporation has lodged FIRs against two private colinisers.
One of them is Zabbar, who developed Samnan Gardensa and the second one is Prem Gupta of Prem Nagar. But, there are many such colonisers who are in the LMC fireline for ignoring basic issues.
LMC sources said these colonizers had taken money from the residents in the name of development charges but didn’t provide anything promised.
Due to this, residents of these localities have to brave water logging, bad roads, risk their life by driving on roads without lights and without proper water supply.
It may be recalled that the residents of Samnan Gardens, Ekta Nagar, Prem Nagar, Mari Mata Mandir are facing the problem of water logging repeatedly for the past 8 days because the colonizer has not provided proper drainage system in their respective localities. These colonies have turned into water ponds, which are not only a risk to health but also a daily challenge for office and school-goers.
The residents of these colonies blame their colonizers for their fate. They say that they were promised proper drainage system, good roads, smooth water supply and street lights in every corner of the colony. These colonizers took the money and then chose to forget about the issue. “This is cheating. This is unethical, unprofessional and amounts to a breach of trust,” residents said.
The Municipal Commissioner Ram Bodh Maurya was angry when he visited these colonies. “ They have not even provided proper drainage for the rain water.
These colonies are not yet taken over by the LMC as the colonizers have not yet deposited the development charges with the LMC,” said additional municipal commissioner AC Sinha and added, “ How could the LDA approve the maps of such colonizers without verifying the facts that these colonies are being developed in low- lying areas where there is no outlet of water?”
“We have deployed seven pumps to pump out water. But, the people in the adjacent villages are not allowing the LMC to release the water in their territory,” said Sinha.
The LMC has planned to displace eight families who are residing in the water logged. Municipal Commissioner Ram Bodh Maurya said, “ We will identify and take action against other private colonizers who have not fulfilled their promises of proper civic amenities. We will develop these colonies and charge the amount from them as per the LMC Act.”
