GC Kataria

Drawn into politics by the ideology of Sangh Parivar, Gulab Chand Kataria has graduated from youth politics to become the leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly.

Born on October 13, 1944, Kataria has been elected to state assembly for five terms being a member of sixth, seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh assembly.

A lawyer by profession, Kataria was the vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) during 1977 and 1980. He was later elevated as the general secretary of the Rajasthan BJP unit and held the post from 1986 and 1993. He had also been BJP state unit chief from May 27, 1999 to June 19, 2000.

He was made a minister in BJP-ruled Bhairon Singh Sekhawat Government between Decemebr 13, 1993 and November 30, 1998.
