ONLY 2.5 PER cent of the total registered unemployed youths have evinced interest in the Chief Minister’s unemployment allowance scheme.

He is going to inaugurate the unemployment allowance scheme by distributing the same to the unemployed youths of the city on June 16.
The Regional Employment Exchange (REC) has received only 750 applications.
Out of 30,000 registered unemployed youths claiming the unemployment allowance from the State Government. REC sources say this doesn’t mean the unemployed youths don’t require the allowance. But, they are certainly in a fix over the strict screening measures by the government to select the deserving candidates. However, the officials of employment exchange are expecting the numbers of applications to go up dramatically till June 10.
“Presently, many candidates are not aware about the Chief Minister’s scheme. Secondly, we have asked for some documents to ensure that the government is not cheated by the frauds or any one in service should get unemployment allowance,” said regional employment officer SK Saksena.
He added, “We expect crowds between June 8 to 10. The directives of government say we have fixed June 10 as the cut-off date for receiving applications. We have made all the arrangements to manage the crowds. We have opened few extra counters for receiving the applications besides a company of PAC is deployed inside the employment exchange to manage the rowdy elements,” said regional employment officer SK Saksena.
Talking about the strict measures to check the fraud in the unemployment allowance Saksena said, “ We are asking for an affidavit stating that the applicant is not working anywhere, is totally unemployed and has no other source of income, besides that we will put a seal on the back of High School certificate, so that he cannot claim the allowance from other exchange. This is in the case of candidates who are registered from the two exchanges. We are taking full care that the recipient of the allowance is the domicile of UP for that we have made the submission of original domicile certificate mandatory for the candidates, we have to take precautionary steps as we can’t allow anyone to walk away with the employment allowance, without deserving it.”
The candidates are expected to get Rs 500 as unemployment allowance the postgraduates and graduates are going to similar amount, this has induced a feeling of dissatisfaction inside the postgraduate unemployed youths said an official of employment exchange.
