Exhumed deceased was murdered

A postmortem conducted at JJ Hospital in Mumbai on Dhansingh Rajput (40), a resident of Kalamboli, who died under mysterious circumstances in October, states his body had five injury marks made by a sharp object. Panvel police, which had earlier registered a case of accidental death, have now booked a case of murder. 
 
Dhansingh Rajput (40), a spare parts dealer and a resident of Kalamboli had gone missing from his house on October 22. His body was found near Bunder road, in a nullah  in Panvel on October 27, in a decomposed state. The police say they sent wireless messages to all the police stations. Despite a missing complaint being registered at Kalamboli police station, Panvel police received no response. Rajput's body was then buried in the Panvel Municipal Council crematorium near Court Naka on October 29.
 
When the family finally learnt of Rajput's demise at Panvel a day later, they contacted the police station and were shocked to learn that he had been buried. The body was then exhumed on October 31. In fact the police had to exhume two more bodies as there was confusion over the identity of Rajput's body. Rajput's brother Soham Singh later confirmed the identity of the deceased through the wrist watch found on him. 
 
Rajput's family had then stated that his death was not due to suicide as the police seemed to believe. They suspected foul play. The JJ hospital report has now confirmed their fears. Said Police Sub-Inspector Giridhar Gore, "According to the JJ report, the death was caused by the inflicting of those injuries. We are now investigating the case to get to the bottom of it." 
 
In a similar case, on October 9, the body of one Gulam Hussain Rafiq Suratia (42) was exhumed by his relatives. Suratia, a resident of Shivghar, Moha in Panvel had been hospitalised with jaundice at Panvel Municipal Council Hospital (PMCH). He, however, succumbed to the disease on October 2. The police buried him in a crematorium on October 6. Suratia's relatives however turned up a couple of days later and demanded his body. Following permission from the sub-divisional magistrate, the body was exhumed and taken to Mumbra for final rites.
