“The big budget film likely to cost Rs 40 crore would be shot mostly in the State,” he said making the announcement here after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi. He said that most of the film’s cast would be from Bihar.

He said that there was no dearth of locations for film production in the State. Bihar is specially suited for shooting of historical films, he asserted. Only those films stand a good chance to win international acclaim which have to do with the country’s history in one way or the other, he added citing the example of ‘Lagaan’, ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Water’.

To leverage the historic spots in the State for tourism development he suggested that light and sound shows based on the past of Patliputra, Gautam Buddha and Nalanda should be started at Patna, Bodh Gaya and Nalanda.

Stressing the need for setting up the Bihar Film Corporation, he said that there was no dearth of talent in the field of films here. He cited the examples of Chitragupt, Anand, Milind and many others in this regard to say that a number of Biharis have contributed a lot to Bollywood. Even today there are several Biharis working in the film industry as actors or behind the scene workers and technicians, he added.
