Culrav-06 all set to begin from Feb 23
MOTILAL NEHRU National Institute Technology (MNNIT) is all set to organise its three-day annual Cultural Festival from February 23. The National-level fest dubbed?Culrav 2K6-- will witness students from leading engineering and technical educational institutions of the country taking part in a number of events and competitions that promises to enthrall one and all.

The events planned for the festival consists of an unlimited display of cultural diversity in various domains like Music, Drama, Dance, Literary and Arts. With more than 30 major events and hundreds of participants, the fest will present an arena for intense competition and a chance for youths to prove their mettle beyond the realms of academics.
"The events will herald a rare blend of Western and Indian cultures encompassing dances, songs and musical events. It will be followed by plethora of literary events.
"Those who are in to the dramatic stuff will have plenty opportunities to bring out an impressive presentation," informed Prof Rakesh Narain, president, MNNIT Student Activity Centre and the head of the central co-ordination committee formed to oversee the fest. Prof Narain said that a website for the fest will be launched by Sunday and students can access www.mnnitfest.net for detailed information.
He informed that on the programme list of the fest are dance competitions like Blitzkrieg (Western group dance), Sanskriti (The folk dances), Unus (solo dance) and Pas De Deux (the duo dance), musical events like Meri Awaaz Suno (Hindi Solo), My Heart Goes On (Western Solo), Aaroh (The Classical Performance), Harmony (The Group Song), Tongue Twister (Non-native Regional Solo), Antakshari ( Passing The Gauntlet) and Sound Of Music (Composition To Given Lyrics).
As part of the Drama events, Khula Manch (The Freedom Of Expression), Nukkad (The Street Play), Wild Thoughts and The Great MNNITian Laughter Challenge will be some of the attractions. Spandan—the theme based fashion show, as every year, is expected to draw the biggest crowd and the loudest applause.
This year a new addition to fest will be 'The Carpet Awards' to recognise outstanding contributions in the dramatics and all participants of Khula Manch will be eligible for the awards that will include awards for individual performances, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Actor/Actress in comic role, Best story & screenplay, Best Team Co-ordination, Best Actor in a Silent Role, Best Costume Designer, Best Music Director, Most Innovative idea and the MNNIT Junta Choice Award.
This year the English Literary events planned for the fest include Arraign (The English Debate), Ad-lib (English Extempore), We The People (Open Panel Discussion), Motley (Play With Words), JAM (Just A Minute), Mind Your Move (Scrabble) while the Hindi Literary events will be Tark (Hindi debate), Lakshaman Rekha (Turn-coat), Sambodhan (Public Speaking contest), Kavya Sandhya, Srajana (Creative writing), Dil Se Dil Tak (love letter writing competition), Trahimam (Shipwreck), Kuch Pal (Just A Minute).
Culrav-2006 would also feature a whole new range of off-stage informal events— iN4malZ— which will include brand new games and contests for everybody to have a fun time while they take a break from sophisticated cultural activity.
A 'Celebrity Night' and a 'DJ Night' have also been planned.
Another new feature this year will be the 'Video Remix' event where the song is different and so is the video and it will be the participants who will mix and remix them using their own creativity and set of software.
