He also announced over Rs 40 crore development package for the district. Criticising the Congress for creating hassles on the way of development, Mulayam highlighted his government’s achievements and work done in favour of farmers, youths, weavers, girls and for almost every sections of the society.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation of 202 development projects worth Rs 107 crore to the people of Meerut. He also said that the State would round-the-clock power supply within two years.
“Our decision for Rs 10 hike in sugarcane price would benefit lakhs of farmers though it would amount an extra burden of Rs 700 crore on the state exchequer,” he declared and further added that UP tops the list in paying maximum to their sugarcane farmers.
Attacking the Congress, chief minister criticised the import of wheat at a price higher than the support price declared by the Union government for farmers. He also blamed the Congress for intentionally blocking the supply of gas and coal to proposed Dadri project of Reliance. “Despite their foul play we will be able to provide uninterrupted power supply to our people within two years,” he said.
He also charged the BJP, BSP and Congress for hatching conspiracy to uproot the SP government before the election. “BJP and BSP had formed government thrice and now willing to repeat it fourth time”, he charged. He further alleged that Congress was also hands-in-glove in executing their plan. “Mayawati has already admitted it after the mayoral election in the State,” he said.
Without naming Mayawati, he criticised her for labeling Muslims as fanatic. “I know Muslims had a glorious history,” he said and further added that Muslims and farmers jointly contribute 80 per cent for country’s development.
