Bhat, on a Youtube video, transposed his face with that of the two personalities and played out a fictional conversation between them.
Imitating Lata Mangeshkar in the video, Bhat says that cricketer Virat Kohli is better than Tendulkar. To this, the comedian -- now playing Tendular -- tells the singer, “You are 5,000 years old... “
While the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has warned of action against Bhat, Twitter users too lashed out at him for mocking the two idols, with some calling the video “offensive” and saying that it “wasn’t even funny”.
Some, however, defended Bhat’s brand of funny.
Bhat chimed in to the tweets on Monday.
This is not the first time the AIB comedian has faced the ire of social media users.
Bhat had sparked another debate this month after posting a Youtube video on May 20 over the necessity of feminism. He was part of the AIB Knockout Roast -- held in January 2015 -- that involved Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor and snowballed into a full-fledged controversy for perpetrating “obscenity”.
