In a major initiative to give a new lease of life to the long time favourite market of the city, the municipal commissioner has invited its traders to have a discussion with him on ways to develop it on Tuesday evening.

The municipal commissioner has also assured the traders of a dialogue with squatters who encroach the roads and affect their business.
The municipal commissioner agreed that problems facing Aminabad could only be solved through composite dialogue with the traders and squatters who earn their daily bread on the roads.
Trader leader Sanjay Gupta approached municipal commissioner on behalf of Aminabad Traders with their problems on Monday. The municipal commissioner assured him of positive action to solve the problems of the Aminabad traders.
“After my plan to develop two model colonies, I have decided to develop Aminabad as a model market. All suggestions from traders are welcome,” said the municipal chief, adding, “Aminabad deserves a good parking system, encroachment-free roads and smooth flow of traffic to boost business. I will have a talk with the roadside vendors too.”
General secretary of the Aminabad Traders’ Association Susheel Gurnani welcomed the initiative. “We are happy that the municipal chief has decided to develop the market as a model market but we are fed up of false assurances as in the past. If he is serious about developing the market, we assure him full support. Our loss in sales is rising, due to encroachments and inept parking. Our customers have been diverted to other markets. Due to heavy encroachments just five feet space is left for single-way traffic. We have invested lakhs of rupees on showrooms but sales are decreasing because of encroachment,” said Gurnani.
“We want proper parking space for vehicles, encroachment-free roads for smooth movement of traffic, and a fire station. If the LMC is able to give us this much, nothing can stop Aminabad from becoming a model market.”
