Video of man in uniform attacking Kerala government fake, says Army
Flagging the video as fake, the Indian Army appealed to social media users not to share it.
The Indian Army on Monday termed as fake the video of a man dressed in combat uniform alleging political obstruction from the Kerala government in its rescue and relief operations in the rain-ravaged state.
“Imposter wearing Army combat uniform in video spreading disinformation about rescue & relief efforts. Every effort by all & IndianArmy aimed to overcome this terrifying human tragedy,” the army’s additional directorate general of public information said in a tweet.
Flagging the video as fake, it appealed to social media users not to share it, while forwarding any disinformation about the amy on WhatsApp number 91-7290028579.
In the video, shared on a Facebook page called the Bharatiya Mahila Morcha Thalaserry Mandalam (since deactivated) and going viral, the “soldier” alleged Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan deliberately obstructed the army from carrying out a rescue operation in Chengannur, one of the worst-hit areas in the current spell of floods, caused by torrential rain since August 8.
He goes on to ask Vijayan why he has “so much animosity” towards the army and appeals to let it come and do its work, promising “we will not take over your state”.
