The administration is currently carrying out a five-point plan to drill a rescue tunnel for the trapped workers. Vertical drilling will commence from three different points of the hill, reaching the trapped men in 2-3 days, as per the estimation given by Centre.
Uttarkashi's under-construction Silkyara-Barkot tunnel collapsed on November 12, around 5:30am, trapping 41 workers in the rubble. The rescue operations are being carried out by NDRF, SDRF and other central and state bodies.

Abhishek Ramola, owner of the hotel where food for the trapped people was prepared, said, “We have cooked food for the people trapped inside. We are giving rice and paneer today in the food. We have made around 150 packets for them. All items have been prepared under the supervision of the doctor...We have given all easy-to-digest food.”

There is a lot of pressure in underground tunnels, and when we excavate those tunnels, this pressure gets disturbed, and we have to divert it along certain structures.”
