Suspected militants fire on civilian, attack army vehicle in J&K’s Pulwama

One army man received minor burn injuries after suspected militants hurled a petrol bomb and opened fire on an army vehicle in Navpora Payeen village of Pulwama.

Suspected militants opened fire on a civilian and injured him in Tral town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday, police officials said.

They said Mohammad Amin Malik was fired upon by militants near his home at Lurgam. “He received gunshot wounds and has been evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment,” a police spokesman said, adding that police had registered a case in this regard and begun investigations.

In a separate incident in Pulwama earlier, militants attacked an army vehicle with a petrol bomb and opened fire in Navpora Payeen village of the south Kashmir district, superintendent of police, Chandan Kohli said.

He said an army man received minor burn injuries due to the petrol bomb. “The army retaliated to the firing. No one was injured in the exchange of fire,” Kohli added.
