Sharad Pawar's 'if-then' message for ‘someone trying to break Ajit away’

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday commented on the speculations of a possibility of a split in the NCP and without denying it, he said if the party has to take a strong stand, it will take but there has been no discussion on it yet and hence he desisted from speaking more on the issue. Ajit Pawar has spoken cautiously on many issues that the opposition parties have taken up. Ajit Pawar reportedly held meetings with the MLAs in his support, but Sharad Pawar reportedly prevailed over the situation and Ajit Pawar gave statement asserting that he will remain in the NCP as long as he lives.
That did not solve the crisis in the NCP as Ajit Pawar is not included in the list of star campaigners for the Karnataka polls. Ajit was present at the NCP's Iftar party in Mumbai recently along with Sharad Pawar but his absence in another meeting gave mixed signals about what lies ahead for Maharashtra.
Ajit Pawar took the oath as the deputy chief minister in 2019 extending NCP's support to the BJP, when Devendra Fadnavis took the oath as the chief minister -- before Mha Vikas Aghadi was formed and they staked the government. Ajit Pawar was the deputy chief minister of the MVA government too.
Amid the speculations of his rebellion, Ajit Pawar said he is ready to be the chief minister of Maharashtra.
The statement has set off theories about whether there will be another change in the Maharashtra government in the present term. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said the Shinde-led Maharashtra government will collapse in 15 to 20 days. "The government of the existing chief minister and his 40 MLAs will collapse in 15-20 days. The death warrant of this government has been issued. It is now to be decided who will sign it,” Raut said adding that his party is waiting for the court order on the disqualification of the MLAs who joined hands with Eknath Shinde.
