S Jaishankar's first reaction to Operation Sindoor: ‘World must show zero tolerance for terrorism’

India launched 'Operation Sindoor', executing high-precision airstrikes on terror headquarters in Pakistan and PoK, targeting groups like JeM, LeT, and Hizbul.

Leaders cutting across political lines, have congratulated the Indian armed forces for carrying out strikes at nine locations in Pakistan, some of which are linked to terror outfits such as the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

While Union ministers and members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were the first to share posts on Operation Sindoor, the name given to the strikes, followed by statements of opposition party leaders.

Union minister for external affairs, S Jaishankar on a post on X said, "The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism."

Defence minister Rajnath Singh also put out a post on X, "Bharat Mata ki Jai", he wrote.

Rashtriya Dal United (RJD) leader and former deputy chief minister of Bihar Tejasvi Yadav in a post on X said, “India, Indians and Indian Army have never and will never tolerate any form of terrorism and separatism in our country”.

"We are people who believe in truth, non-violence and peace. We Indians never do wrong but if someone does wrong to us then we do not tolerate it. If people who foster terrorism attack our unity, integrity and sovereignty then we know how to unite and give a befitting reply. In this fight against terrorism, 140 crore Indians are with the Indian Army and the Government," Yadav said.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) lawmaker Sasmit Patra called Operation Sindoor the resolute voice of a nation united against terror.

"Our brave armed forces have delivered a precise and powerful blow to terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This action comes in response to the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali

national lost their lives. As a nation, we made a solemn commitment: those responsible would be held accountable. Today, we are living up to that promise."

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi also welcomed the military action against terror camps in Pakistan.

He said, "...The Pakistani deep state must be taught a tough lesson so that another Pahalgam never happens again. Pakistan's terror infrastructure must be completely destroyed. Jai Hind!"
